Paprika (2006)

Unfortunately, I watched this film dubbed. The voice acting was terrible! That aside, it was a very cool, very fantastical film. It was kind of like the Inception of anime, before Inception was made. Most of all, I loved the creativity of the artwork. All kinds of craziness happening everywhere.

Wisdom Teeth

That's me a day after my wisdom teeth got taken out. Slightly swollen, but not all that bad. Minimal pain, didn't really need Vicodin. I healed pretty quickly, was eating solid foods 2 day after. I still have the cavities where the lower teeth used to be. Small food, like tobiko, get stuck in it a lot. So I have to keep flushing the cavities until it heals over. The right side is just about healed, the left is taking a bit longer.

New Shoes

 

Present to myself after a day in Hell (Fairfield). New work out shoes. They make me feel like a ninja, I'll wear them with my Kakashi vest.

PS My hair is really long, time to get a trim tomorrow.

Japanese Streets

I love the jacket and the fox stole. I think I definitely need to incorporate fox into my closet. Not to mention the leopard print pants.

I love how he takes those crazy print pants and makes them work. I'm on the look out for more crazy prints.

Unhappy

I'm everything I don't wanna be right now. Drunk. High. Sweaty. Used. Tired.

Sure I met cuties and made out and smoked and drank with them. But so what? They're meaningless to me.

I don't miss my ex at all. What I do miss is someone to be there for me. Someone to lean on. This single life I live now. I can only rely on myself. My family and friends are there, but only to an extent. The bond is different between me and a significant other. I miss that, the connection.

As I read in Norwegian Wood, all I want is someone who wants to understand me, and for us to understand each other completely. That is love.

Nanpa Bar

Scott and I came up with the great idea of Nanpa Bar.

Nanpa is the Japanese custom of picking up girls. In public areas like a courtyard or a bridge, young(mostly) people just hang out, often times it is a meeting place. It also serves as a place to nanpa. Guys will go up to girls and see if they can pick them up.

Our bar will be exactly the same. With a giant bridge in the center, or above. Once you're on the bridge you are fair game. Wahaha. There will be a waterfall behind, with a wading pool. And dancefloor where the floor with be clearish. So it seems like you dance on water.

Also, once a week we will having booking night.

Best idea ever.

Norwegian Wood

What a beautiful novel. Haven't shed tears like that for fiction in a while. It's nice.

"I've decided to make myself strong. As far as I can tell, that's all I can do."

That was my favorite quote.  So simple, so applicable.

It's 5AM. I couldn't stop reading. Still not tired now. I just want to lay here and try to soak it in.

X Men First Class

 

Mixed feelings about First Class. I loved the concept of telling how things started. The actor for Magneto was a nice, sexy choice as well. However, I felt Xavier wasn't well represented, and kind of a pansy. Also, mutant choice was lacking. Only Magneto, Emma Frost, and Azazel seemed worthy. The rest of their powers were so lackluster. Especially Angel. Why!?!? Also I have a complaint about Mystique. She was so useless :( She's my favorite from the previous films and one of my faves from the cartoon. She just couldn't do anything this time around. Magneto was so much more charming than Xavier in the film. I would definitely join the revolution.

 On the good side, it was much better acted than some of the previous films. Also, the storyline had much fewer holes in it.  The Hugh Jackman cameo was a nice touch too :)

I almost forgot to mention Kevin Bacon. How could I possibly dislike anything with him in it??

Japanese Jams

When I was in Japan I went Japanese clubbing of course. I was totally in awe of the synchronized dancing I witnessed. These 2 songs particularly stuck in my mind. I will learn them one day.

Travel Note 6

I love that everything is exactly the price it says. No thinking about tax or tip.

I love efficiency. It makes me so happy.

I eat way less here. But I'm still just as full. No wonder people here are so skinny.

Also, I'm loving this active lifestyle. People here are so healthy. They walk everywhere! I hope my life is more like this when I don't have a car in NYC.

I'm still getting used to walking on the left side. I have to fix myself all the time.

Next time I come to Japan, I will prepare by learning popular dances to do in the club. Synchronized dancing rocks.

Hello Ghost

Watched some Korean movie on the plane called Hello Ghost. Omg totally triggered my momma's boy issues. Had me sobbing next to this quiet Singaporean couple. :( Cue embarrassment.
